Making An Herbal Skin Cream
Herbal skin creams are very effective and can do a lot in the way of helping you take care of your skin and prevent any unwanted conditions like wrinkles, dry skin, acne, redness, large pores and other common issues. Herbal creams are really great to have on hand when a skin emergency comes up as well. They are also a lot of fun for evenings when you feel like pampering yourself and they make great presents on top of that. However the herbal creams that you buy at stores are often filled with lots of chemicals that can be harmful to your overall health and they can be pretty pricey too. You can’t be sure what’s in them and you never know if you’re really getting what you paid for. Unfortunately the same thing applies to the herbal creams that are labeled “natural” because they may not really even contain natural components of the ingredients that are listed and there isn’t much done to regulate the claims that skin and hair companies make about their products. These skin creams may or may not have in them what they claim and that can be frustrating for someone that wants the specific effects of certain herbs or plants.
There are specific herbs that carry different properties. Some herbs moisturize dry skin, others clean, some protect, and others still will even your skin tone. Rosemary and rose water can cleanse the skin and remove wrinkles, mint can help clear acne, aloe is great for moisture, and lavender and chamomile can help even your skin tone. You can do research on different herbs to look up other properties they might have or to find new ones you may want to try. You can also mix and match herbs to get the effect you want from your cream or to make it smell a bit differently because not everyone likes the smell of every herb. Once you’ve selected the herbs that you want to try then gather your ingredients and you can begin making your herbal skin cream.
The first thing that you’ll want to do is crush an ounce of your herbs (or flowers) into a cup of water and then pour that mixture into a ceramic pot (must be ceramic). Add another cup of water to it and bring it to a gentle boil and then let it simmer for about three minutes. Remove it from the heat and let it cool. Strain out the herbs or flowers and store the remaining water in the fridge for a couple of hours. Once you’ve let the water sit go ahead and melt an ounce of lanolin and beeswax together using a double boiler. Slowly stir in four ounces of a fruit oil such as almond or avocado. Remove the mixture from the heat and then mix in an ounce of the herb water using a whisk very well. Let your mixture cool and then you can package it. The best way to do that is usually to funnel it into a bottle or a small cream jar with a lid that is secure. Once you’ve done that you can make a fun label for them with any basic printer and computer design program and you can also find fun ways to package them and give them away as presents or as items in gift baskets. You can also even start your own business making herbal products and skin creams if you find that people like your concoctions well enough. However it’s also a lot of fun to just make them for yourself. You can experiment using different herbs, ingredients, combinations and so forth to find types that you like and that your friends and family like as well. Remember that many of these creams can also be used as healing applicants for people that may have a rash, and irritation, or another common skin problem. Just take the time to do some research and find out what herb will work best for your condition and then go ahead and make yourself a nice cream with it. You can also use essential oils in these! Have fun making and bottling your own creams and taking care o your skin the natural way!
