Making An Herbal Facial
Giving yourself a facial can be extremely good fun and it’s very relaxing and very good for your skin as well. Spas are great places to get a facial done but they can be very expensive to go to regularly and when you factor in tipping and other such costs its a luxury that is out of many peoples budgets but that doesn’t mean that you have to go without treating yourself to this fun spa experience. All it means is that instead of going to an expensive spa to have a facial done you can just make one up for yourself and apply it at home. This is a much better way of going about it and not just because of the amount of money you’ll save. It’s also nice to be able to do a facial in your own home because then you don’t have to set up an appointment, arrange your schedule around it, you also don’t have to tip the person who works at the spa and you don’t have to worry about what kind of chemicals or synthetic ingredients might be in the face mask they are putting on you. The skin on your face is extremely sensitive and your body absorbs whatever is put on your skin so it’s important that you be very careful about what you put on your skin and definitely about what goes onto your face.
The first step when making your own facial is to decide what herb you want to use. They all have different properties and they’ll all effect your skin differently so consider what effects you want to get from your face mask. Do you want to have an even skin tone, clearer skin, fewer wrinkles, or something else? Decide in advance what you want your facial to accomplish and then pick an herb that provides those effects or properties. Once you’ve decided what herb you want, grind it up really well and then you can begin making your mask.
First make sure that you’ve washed your face, removed any makeup, and that you have any hair pulled back out of your face that could get in the way of the mask. Then combine one egg white, a teaspoon of dry milk, a teaspoon of honey and a decent pinch of your herb all together and blend or whisk them at a low speed until the mixture is nice and creamy. After it’s done blending apply the mixture to your face and throat evenly but before you do this test your mixture on a small patch of skin to see if it will work for you. You never know what kind of reaction your skin might have to different ingredients so always test and make sure that you wont do any harm - better safe than sorry when it comes to the delicate skin on your face. Once you’ve applied your mask let it set up and sit for fifteen minutes or so. This is a good time to just relax and read a book or watch a bit of a movie - just don’t move around too much and don’t forget that your mask is on your face. Once your mask has been on for the appropriate amount of time rinse it off entirely with warm water, making sure to get it all off completely.
You can also make a similar mask with honey, olive oil, an egg yolk, and ground fennel. You use the same proportions of ingredients and blend them together in the same way except this one you want to leave on for about thirty minutes for it to have a proper effect. This mask has a more moisturizing effect due to the honey in it but it’s just one of many facials that can provide wonderful benefits. Facials can do a great deal to release stress, get rid of wrinkles, repair damage to skin, and protect it from future harm. They are also a great option for someone with really sensitive skin that may have problems using conventional products. A person with a specific skin condition, or that breaks out easily, or someone that has skin allergies may really struggle to find products that they can use on a daily basis because of how their skin reacts to them. Herbal products are a great reason to look towards more natural forms of skin care because not only are the healthier for you they can also help heal your skin of prior conditions and many of them are hypo-allergenic. These can be great solutions for someone that wants to take care of their skin but struggles with commercial products. They are also a really good option for people that are on a budget and are looking to save money without sacrificing their skin care.
Herbal facials are a lot of fun and they can be done solo or you could offer them as a fun treat for friends or even as activity at parties for younger children. They can be customized all sorts of ways and are very effective. Mix up some fun combinations and try one today!
