Herbal Remedies For Headaches

Almost everyone in the world suffers from headaches and many people are chronically afflicted from them and have them far more often. Headaches can come in all sorts of forms from a dull ache near the back of your neck to a sharp pain right behind your eyes. They can strike at any time, without warning, and can be caused by all sorts of things. Stress is a very common culprit when it comes to headaches and tension headaches are extremely common in people that work in stressful environments or jobs or a regular basis. Headaches can also be caused from anxiety, loud music or other loud noises, as well as stressful situations like traffic, arguing, and so on. Sometimes these things can lead to a simple dull pain that only lasts twenty minutes or so but if you’re prone to them it could turn into a migraine which can last quite a few hours and may even require spending time in bed with the lights off as migraine sufferers are commonly adverse to lights and noise while they are experiencing a headache. Whatever your circumstance may be there are options for getting rid of your headache.

Many people, upon getting a headache immediately turn to modern medicine and drugs to treat the symptoms but now it’s becoming more and more common for people to instead look to a more natural solution to deal with the pain and that very often includes natural supplements and herbal remedies. When looking at these it’s also important to be aware of the type of headache you are getting and the cause. If it’s a primary headache, as most are, then it’s usually because of some environmental factor (like an argument that stressed you out, or a concert that was too loud for you) and not from some underlying problem (like a tumor). Once you’ve removed that factor (like leaving the concert or ending the argument) you can begin to take steps to get rid of your headache and doing so naturally is very simple and easy.

The herbs feverfew, ginkgo biloba, cayenne, and peppermint oil are all very useful when it comes to reliving headaches. To use these they can be cooked with, made a tea with, used as a supplement or an essential oil. They can be put in pouches or scented pillows to prevent and catch headaches when they start. You can also take a bath with these or simply rest with the oils of one of these herbs dabbed on a warm washcloth. They’re also very useful in fragranced soaps or shampoos as this allows them to become part of your daily routine which can prevent headaches before they start. You may also want to consider other nutritional supplements to help with any headaches you might be having. Things like Magnesium and vitamin B2 do very will in decreasing the frequency and the severity of headaches. Consider adding some of them into your life to see if they have a positive affect.

Headaches are never fun but they are treatable and preventable if you take the necessary steps to make sure that you don’t get them and that you keep them away.
