Eczema is a problem for tons of people in the world and it’s an irritating problem at that. Eczema is usually a response to some kind of imbalance in the body such as stress, a bad diet, family genetics, hormonal imbalances, or even food allergies. It’s characterized by patches of red, dry, and very itchy skin that often flakes off and is inflamed. It can also be caused by allergies to certain metals, clothing detergent, shampoo, makeup and the like. It’s usually a bit easier to tell when this is the case because the eczema will be in one specific are. If it isn’t it will often show up on the face and scalp, the hands, and on joints like elbows and knees. If your metabolism is off or if your body has a hard time detoxing itself this can also be a big cause of eczema. Another common cause is extreme weather, either hot or cold, and especially if you live in a very arid or dry climate. Any nutritional deficiencies that you may have can also contribute to eczema as it may be a symptom of your body trying to deal with toxins that it cant get rid of otherwise.

There are however, some good herbal remedies that can make a big difference when it comes to helping relieve your eczema so that you don’t have to resort to some prescription or chemical filled ointment that will produce who knows what kinds of side effects. Aloe vera gel is very helpful at relieving inflammation and moisturizing dry flaky skin. Burdock root will minimize cell destructing while grape root and calendula help reduce inflammation and clear toxins. Chamomile will help get rid of that painful itch and turmeric and rosemary stimulate circulation and speed healing. Coconut oil when applied directly to the skin is also very effective at getting rid of eczema. A paste of camphor and sandalwood can be helpful as well. You may also want to try spending some extra time out in the sun because the sunlight will increase vitamin D in your body which is very helpful at strengthening your immune system and can even kill off bacteria that are harmful and can make your eczema worse. Nutmeg and spearmint are also helpful when it comes to eczema as is almond.

Use clay or cold compresses can be very helpful as well and sometimes taking a hot shower can help soften the skin and relieve some of the itching. It’s a good idea to stay away from soaps and lotions that have a lot of chemicals or synthetic ingredients in them because these can cause the skin to dry out even further and can irritate it more and even inflame it. Watch out for these kinds of things because they will aggravate your condition and might make it take even longer to heal.

There are plenty of treatments and home remedies available so just try a few out and see what will work for you!
